Article Withdraw/Cancellation Policy
The Journal of Intelligent Systems Technology and Informatics (JISTICS) expects authors to carefully review their manuscripts before submission to ensure accuracy, originality, and readiness for publication. Once a manuscript has been submitted for peer review, it is considered a firm commitment to publish with JISTICS.
However, under exceptional circumstances, authors may request to withdraw a manuscript. This policy outlines the conditions and procedures for such requests.
1. Withdrawal Before Peer Review
- Authors may request withdrawal if the manuscript is still in the "Submitted" stage or before peer reviewers have been formally invited/assigned.
- Requests must be made via email to the Editorial Office, clearly stating the reason for withdrawal.
- No penalty will normally be applied for withdrawal at this early stage.
2. Withdrawal During Peer Review or After Acceptance
- Withdrawal during peer review, after acceptance, or during production (e.g., proofs) is strongly discouraged.
- Such withdrawals waste valuable resources of editors, reviewers, and editorial staff.
- A formal withdrawal request letter, signed by all authors, must be submitted to the Editor-in-Chief, clearly stating the compelling reasons.
- The Editor-in-Chief will review the request and may grant withdrawal only under exceptional circumstances (e.g., critical errors, ethical issues, or unavoidable situations beyond authors’ control).
- A withdrawal fee may be imposed to cover resources already invested in review and editorial processing. The applicable fee is stated in the journal’s Publication Fee Policy.
- Manuscripts cannot be withdrawn once a decision of "Major Revisions" or "Accept" has been issued, unless compelling reasons are formally approved by the Editor-in-Chief.
3. Withdrawal Due to Plagiarism or Ethical Misconduct
- If plagiarism, redundant publication, falsified data, or serious ethical misconduct is detected at any stage (before or after publication), JISTICS reserves the right to withdraw the manuscript without authors’ consent.
- Such cases will be handled according to JISTICS’s Plagiarism Policy and COPE guidelines. Where necessary, the case may be reported to the authors’ affiliated institutions or funding bodies.
4. Important Notes
- Once formally withdrawn, the manuscript will be removed from JISTICS’s submission pipeline.
- Any attempt to resubmit a withdrawn manuscript (or a slightly modified version) without disclosure and re-evaluation will be treated as a breach of publication ethics.
- This policy is distinct from the Retraction Policy, which applies only to articles that have already been formally published.
Authors are strongly encouraged to prepare and review their manuscripts thoroughly prior to submission to avoid the need for withdrawal.
