Section Policies
The Journal of Intelligent Systems Technology and Informatics (JISTICS) maintains a rigorous and fair review process to ensure the quality and integrity of its published content. Authors are encouraged to review these policies carefully before submission.
Article Sections
JISTICS publishes various types of manuscripts to cater to the diverse needs of researchers and practitioners in Artificial Intelligence, Intelligent Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, and Informatics. Authors should select the most appropriate section for their submission.
- Research Articles:
Original research papers presenting novel theoretical advancements, empirical studies, or methodological contributions across the journal's scope. These articles should demonstrate rigorous methodology, significant findings, and clear implications for advancing the fields.
- Review Articles:
Comprehensive and critical syntheses of existing literature on specific topics within AI, Intelligent Systems, IT, Computer Science, and Informatics. Review articles should provide a clear overview of the current state of research, identify gaps, and propose future research directions.
- Technical Notes & Short Communications:
Concise papers describing new algorithms, software tools, datasets, innovative experimental setups, or preliminary research results. These should offer sufficient detail for replication or further development.
- Conceptual Papers:
Manuscripts that develop new theories, frameworks, or conceptual models relevant to the journal's scope. These papers should offer novel perspectives and lay the groundwork for future empirical or theoretical research.
- Case Studies / Application Papers (Optional):
Applied research or real-world case studies that demonstrate the implementation of intelligent systems or informatics solutions in practice.
Peer Review Process
JISTICS employs a rigorous double-blind peer review process. This means that both the identities of the authors and the reviewers are concealed from each other throughout the review process. This policy ensures impartiality and promotes high-quality evaluation of manuscripts.
Authors will receive anonymized reviewer comments to facilitate revisions. The average review process takes approximately 4–8 weeks, and manuscripts may undergo a maximum of two rounds of revision before a final decision is made.
- Upon submission, manuscripts undergo an initial editorial screening for scope, quality, and adherence to submission guidelines.
- Eligible manuscripts are then sent to at least two independent expert reviewers.
- Reviewers are selected based on their expertise in the relevant field and are asked to provide constructive feedback on the manuscript's originality, methodology, significance, clarity, and contribution.
- Based on the reviewers' recommendations, the Editor-in-Chief makes a final decision (Accept, Minor Revisions, Major Revisions, or Reject).
- Authors will receive anonymized reviewer comments to facilitate revisions.
Publication Frequency
JISTICS is published three times a year (March, July, and November), with new issues released regularly to ensure the timely dissemination of research.
Open Access Policy
JISTICS is an open-access journal. All articles published in JISTICS are freely available online immediately upon publication without any subscription or access fees. This ensures maximum dissemination and global accessibility of scholarly work. Authors retain the copyright to their work and grant the journal right of first publication under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).
Plagiarism Policy
JISTICS is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics. All submitted manuscripts will be checked for plagiarism using professional plagiarism detection software. Any instances of plagiarism, self-plagiarism, or redundant publication will lead to rejection of the manuscript and potential sanctions against the authors. Manuscripts with a similarity index above 20% (excluding references) will not be considered for publication.
Archiving Policy
JISTICS utilizes the PKP Preservation Network (PN) to digitally preserve its contents. This ensures that the journal's content remains permanently accessible and available to the scholarly community even in the event of unforeseen circumstances affecting the journal's operations. The journal also supports LOCKSS/CLOCKSS archiving systems where available.
Authorship Policy
Authors submitting to JISTICS must ensure that all individuals who have made significant scientific contributions to the research are listed as co-authors. All listed authors must have approved the final version of the manuscript and agreed to its submission for publication. Corresponding authors are responsible for ensuring that all co-authors are aware of and approve the manuscript's submission. The journal follows the ICMJE (International Committee of Medical Journal Editors) authorship criteria.
Conflict of Interest Policy
Authors, reviewers, and editors are required to disclose any potential conflicts of interest that could influence their judgment or actions during the submission and review process. This includes financial, personal, or professional relationships that might create bias. Any disclosed conflicts will be managed transparently to maintain the integrity of the publication process. Editors and reviewers must decline to handle manuscripts if a conflict of interest exists.
Retraction Policy
JISTICS follows the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines for article retractions. Articles may be retracted if there is clear evidence of scientific misconduct, serious errors that invalidate the findings, or redundant publication. Retraction notices will clearly state the reason for retraction and will be linked to the original article. Corrections, errata, or expressions of concern will also be published when necessary to maintain the integrity of the scholarly record.
